Mercury Retrograde

About Mercury Retrograde… sigh. I remember when I first heard about this I thought what a bunch of garbage. I was waiting in a ferry line on Lummi Island and my friend Susea was telling me about it. As she talked the ferry arrived and the other cars pulled around my car and the ferry left….. THREE TIMES!

Briefly, Mercury is the planet of communication. 3-4 times a year it appears to go backwards in the sky. When planets do this, it is time to RE-flect on what they mean symbolically, and take care of business that we tend to neglect. Mercury rules travel, electronics, contracts, and all forms of communication.
A simple example could be you order something in a restaurant, and you get something completely opposite. Or you make a date for a walk, and you both show up an hour apart, or in 2 different locations waiting.

The computer goes down, the starter doesn’t work in the car, the plane takes off early, is delayed or cancelled. The garbage disposal breaks, and the new watch’s batteries just die. The phone bill is wrong and there is no supervisor., or you can’t get a human.
Merc Ret is about breathing deeply and doing it … again, and again. RE-do, RE-try, RE-plan, and expecially RE-adjust. Because the energy is about finishing the old, it can also be tiring. More naps are good. Clean a closet, give away clothes and things you don’t need. Now is the time to edit, not write. Change a contract, don’t start a new one, because it will be RE-vised.

Take time to have patience. If you think this is a bunch of hooey, just wait until September 6, the next time it is retrograde. Make notes, laugh. It’s uncanny.
